In Maine, summers are short, but spectacular, and garden tours are relaxing, but plentiful, so a level of planning is recommended in most cases. This list aims to help you with your summer plans and is meant to be both comprehensive and dynamic, so, please, bookmark this page, and check back often for updates. What: 2017 Maine Flower Show sponsored by the Maine Landscape and Nursery Association featuring 16 display gardens and 100 exhibitors from across Maine.

What: 2017 Fedco Tree Sale at the Fedco Tree Warehouse, 213 Hinckley Road, Clinton, Maine
When: Friday and Saturday, May 5 – 6, 9 am – 3 pm

What: Our Neighbors’ Gardens annual garden tour sponsored by the Friends of Rockland Library, Rockland, Maine
When: June 24, 10 am to 2 pm
Details: Tickets $12 available now at library; $15 day of event
What: Raymond Garden Tour is a tour of eight private gardens, where garden designers will be standing by to answer questions about their creative processes. All proceeds to benefit Raymond Village Library.

What: Island Garden Tour 2017 in Deer Isle, sponsored by the Evergreen Garden Club, will feature five remarkable gardens on the Reach Road.
When: Saturday, June 24, 2017, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Details: Tickets $18; follow signs on Rt. 15 to location where you will be able to purchase tickets and receive a brochure and map
What: Belfast Open Garden Days, featuring a different open garden each week
When: Fridays, June through August, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., rain or shine
Details: Admission $5 at each garden or $30 for a season ticket. Tickets can be purchased at belfastgardenclub.org, where you can also find a list of the gardens that will be open this summer
What: Visit 19th century poet Celia Thaxter’s island garden on Appledore Island off the Maine and New Hampshire coasts. The garden, restored and maintained by the Shoals Marine Laboratory, is opened to the public on a limited basis each summer.
When: June 29, 2017 – August 9, 2017 (8 dates available)

What: Hidden Gardens of Munjoy Hill annual garden tour sponsored by the Friends of the Eastern Promenade will feature a selection of private urban gardens within Portland’s charming seaside neighborhood. Tour begins at Fort Allen Park headquarters.
When: Sunday, July 9, 2017, 10 am – 4 pm

What: Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Open Garden Days in Seal Harbor, Maine
When: Thursdays, July 13, 2017 through early September
Details: This stunning private garden still owned by the Rockefeller family is open every Thursday from late July until early September, with morning and afternoon sessions each day. Reservations, which are absolutely required, open on June 1 and can be made at www.rockgardenmaine.com
What: Avena Botanicals Herb Walks in Rockport led by owner and well known herbalist Deb Soule

What: 7th Annual Maine Home & Design Cape Elizabeth Garden Tour to benefit the Fort Williams Park Foundation featuring the new children’s garden and private gardens in Cape Elizabeth and South Portland

What: 26th Annual Gardens in the Watershed Tour is a self-guided tour of five spectacular gardens in Union, Appleton, and Alford Lake.
When: Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What: Camden Garden Club’s 70th Annual Garden Tour featuring a number of gardens and properties that demonstrate why Camden is the “Jewel of the Maine Coast”
When: July 20, 2017, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

What: Boothbay Region Garden Club’s 2017 Home & Garden Tour “The Sea Around Us” featuring homes and gardens, new and old. Proceeds benefit BRGC’s scholarship and campership programs.

What: Bar Harbor Garden Club’s biennial garden tour will feature six beautiful gardens in Somesville, Southwest Harbor, and Tremont

What: Limerick Garden Tour will feature some of Limerick’s hidden gardens, with all proceeds benefiting the Limerick Public Library

What: Open Farm Day 2017 featuring more than 60 farms across the state of Maine. Many will have demonstrations and rides for the kids.
When: Sunday, July 23, 2017 from approximately 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. (Hours vary from farm to farm.)

What: Avant Gardens in West Gardener is an experiment in retirement homesteading. Tour the garden as part of a new series sponsored by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) and meet owners Adam and June, who grow almost all their own food on the two-acre property.

What: Full Moon Fairy Garden Walk at Avena Botanicals in Rockport

What: The Museums of Old York presents the 2017 Open Doors of York to benefit the Old York Historical Society. The tour this year will offer a rare glimpse into the homes and gardens of historic York Village
